Pizza Saves Woman and Children

On Wednesday May 6th, 2015 a woman Cheryl Treadway and her three children were held at knifepoint at their home in Florida, United States. Treadway talked her boyfriend down and then proceeded to ask if she could order a pizza. She called Pizza Hut and ordered a large pepperoni pizza with a side of 911HOSTAGE. Under the comments section, there was a message asking them to send help and call 911 as they were being held hostage," the Highlands County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. The Pizza Hut she called recognized her phone number because she is a constant costumer. Reports claimed that the man and woman were fighting all day, she tried to pick her kids up form school and the man insisted on coming with her. Soon after the call the woman escaped her home and she waited to talk to the police officers. She said that her boyfriend was inside the home with her two children. He had a knife and was holding them hostage, the police showed up and after about 20 minutes the man, Ethan Nickerson, walked out of the home, gave up the children, and was arrested. He was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, battery, false imprisonment and obstructing justice by depriving communication to law enforcement.

A Real-Life Indiana Jones

A Slovenian archeologist named Ivan Šprajc spends most of his time in Lagunita, his newest discovery. Šprajc claims that, "It was a victory," when he discovered a city in the middle of the forest that has been dated back to 700 A.D. Šprajc has spend the majority of his 6p years of life trampling through the forests and standing in the heat at excavation sites. He calls himself the, "Indiana Jones of Modern Times" and he even wears the hat. On Tuesday, April 21 Šprajc stumbled across the remains of an A.D. city or portal. Everything was covered in black including Šprajc he had been looking for anything from the wilderness but he never thought he would find the lost city of Lagunita.  Lagunita was once the gateway to a Mayan City but was left abandon almost 4 centuries ago. Šprajc hopes to continue exploring the ruins and remains and hopefully discover something incredible.

150 Homeless People Invited to tour Vatican City

On March 26, 2015 the City of Vatican opened their doors to almost 150 homeless people who currently live inside the city. They were broken up into 3 groups and allowed through the Petriano  entrance next to St. Peter's Square, according to Vatican paper L'Osservatore Romano. This was a very special experience considering many of the less fortunate people who live near or in the city don't get to enjoy these things. "The poor, who usually see only the steps outside the colonnade of St. Peter's Square, will also have a chance to enjoy the Vatican's artistic patrimony," the paper wrote. The homeless were even invited given special tours including seeing the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Many of the people who frequently visit the Museums and Chapels became upset because they were not given the so called, "Special treatment," like the homeless. They considered the event to be unfair and, "A joke."

Justine Sacco Reflects Back on Racist Tweets Posted in 2013

In mid-December of 2013 Justine Sacco, the senior director of corporate communications at IAC was headed to South Africa to visit family for the holidays. She was flying from New York, New York to Cape Town, South Africa. The young and hip woman sat in JFK Airport in NY on her phone, checking social media and communicating with family and friends. She began to post (tweet) things onto Twitter about her luxurious travels, the first being, "'Weird German Dude: You’re in First Class. It’s 2014. Get some deodorant.’ — Inner monologue as I inhale BO. Thank God for pharmaceuticals.” This was the first of many tweets Justine posted in just a few hours. After departing from NY Sacco ended up in London were she proceeded to tweet inappropriate things including, “Chilly — cucumber sandwiches — bad teeth. Back in London!” And immediately before Justine took off for her final destination, Cape Town, South Africa, she tweeted “Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get AIDS. Just kidding. I’m white!” And finally after an 11-hour flight Justine landed in Cape Town where she discovered an obscene amount of phone calls and texts from people she hadn’t heard from in years. They all wanted her to call them and “Get Help.” Justine Sacco had become the #1 trending person on Twitter. Social media ruined her life within minutes; she went from being a modest, hardworking young woman to the #1 trending person on Twitter. Within hours people knew whom she was, where she lived and could read everything she had ever posted.  When Sacco landed she listened to many voicemails, one of them was from her boss, she had lost her job and was told that she was to never return to the workplace, others talked about losing friendships and respect. In February 2015, Justine decided to address the public; she apologized for her childish behavior and lack of respect for herself as well as other cultures. She expressed the lesson she was taught in 2013 and how it’s made her who she is today.
